Far Cry 5 has a February 2018 release date on PS4, Xbox One
Far Cry 5 has been revealed in full by Ubisoft.
After a week of teasers, Ubisoft has lifted the lid on the PS4 and Xbox One shooter, which has a February 27 release date.
The game will be compatible with PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio, as well as Windows 10 PC.
Set in the US, players can team up with a friend to battle a group of fanatics that are terrorising the fictional Hope County, Montana.
"As the new junior deputy of fictional Hope County, Montana, players will find that their arrival accelerates a years-long silent coup by a fanatical doomsday cult, the Project at Eden's Gate, igniting a violent takeover of the county," reads the official Ubisoft blurb.
"Caught off guard and drawn into a power struggle, players must disrupt the carefully laid plans of the Project at Eden’s Gate, and fan the fires of resistance to help liberate the Hope County community and themselves."

While playable character will be customisable, players will be able to hire resistance members from Hope County, including Pastor Jerome, a barworker named Mary May and a pilot called Nick Rye.
You'll need to convince them to join you first, because as executive producer Dan Hay points out, AI characters don't trust you right away.
"You go out into the world and you meet people for the first time, you don’t know them, maybe they don’t trust you,”Hay said. "But if you can strike up a deal with them, if you can have a conversation with them and make them part of what it is you’re building, they can join your resistance."

Players will also be able to fly planes to engage cult forces in aerial battles across the county.
Other vehicles include American muscle cars, big rigs, ATVs and boats, as players journey across an open-world landscape made up of farmland, forests, mountains and rivers.
Vehicles are also said to provide refuge against wild animals that sometimes attack players, such as bears and cougars.

Interestingly, Far Cry 5 also sees the return of the map editor, which has been updated with new features that are said to add a new dimension to gameplay.
More details will be announced during the E3 gaming expo in June, where Ubisoft will hold its annual conference.
It's even better news for PS4 owners, who will be able to download a free Far Cry 5 skin pack with the game.
This same content will be available on Xbox One and PC through the Ubisoft Club.
Fans will be able to pick up the Far Cry 5 Standard edition, Deluxe Edition and Gold Edition.
