
A recent open letter sent by five former chairmen and chief executives of the FA demanding help from the Government over reform prompted the debate, with MPs looking to send a strong mandate to Sports Minister Tracy Crouch to take legislative measures later this year.
That could include appointing an independent body to give greater power within in the FA to grass roots football and the national team at the expense of the Premier and Football Leagues.

Separately, the FA have until April to demonstrate improved governance otherwise £50million of public funding is at risk.
Despite this latest development, the FA insists it is still on track.
