The Six Nations usually provides a strong indicator of who will be selected from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland to represent the Lions.
But England head coach Eddie Jones believes the best way to impress Lions head coach Warren Gatland is to do well in an England shirt first.

Players get swayed when worrying about their own performance
“I won’t pick them, it’s easy,” Jones said when asked what would happen if players prioritise individual Lions selection over the England team.
“Players get swayed when worrying about their own performance. They attempt to impress.
“Every time they go to press conferences you guys asks about the Lions, but it’s about the focus of doing things well.
Why does England rugby head coach Eddie Jones have a black eye?
Eddie Jones reveals England's Six Nations objectives
Eddie Jones, with a black eye, today said he demands players focus on England
“We want players doing well in the Six Nations so when the Lions squad is announced we have the majority of players from the UK and Ireland in that squad.
“We want our players to play for the Lions. But that is a consequence of them playing well for us. As long as our players focus on the here and now, which is playing well for us, then they’ll be picked for the Lions.
“I don’t think there’s any change in intensity because of that. I don’t think individuals would put their performance ahead of others.”
England won the Grand Slam last year
England skipper Dylan Hartley has been among the suggested names to take up the captaincy for the tour of New Zealand.
But he insists representing the Lions is not on his mind.
“Individuals may have (Lions) at the back of there minds but for me I’m focusing on next week and my job, by role and our team,” he said.
