The manager's (played by Lisa Faulkner) request comes only weeks after long-serving barmaid Tracey (Jane Slaughter) was unceremoniously axed during a bout of financial problems.
New pictures and spoilers for upcoming episodes released by the BBC soap reveal business-woman and the pub's overseer Fi demanding that landlord Mick (Danny Dyer) hire younger staff even after they'd already let Tracey go. Another apparent blunder was revealed in the series recently when viewers noticed a tube train wasn't moving.
It appears the decision is taken in a bid to reboot the struggling landmark of Albert Square after a slew of money issues, and in light of Whitney and Woody leaving the series could this development simply be because these characters need to be replaced?
But viewers were were still left bewildered by the spoilers as it seemed the series' producers would be uncharacteristically rubbing salt in their wounds after Tracey was given the sack in an April episode.

It is unclear whether the pub's fortunes will turn around and Tracey will get re-hired or if the decision will be explained at all.
In the monumental episode that saw series veteran Tracey get let go from her job on April 28, Woody (Lee Ryan) left the character sobbing in a rare principal scene for the actress.
Fans wasted no time in voicing their anger on Twitter. One said: "She's a national bl**dy treasure… Justice for Tracey #eastenders."
And another joined the bandwagon on the campaign to reinstate the character who has been with the show in a silent recurring role since 1985, even suggesting the actress is given more to do.
"Bring Tracey back and give her a proper role, she acted well when she got sacked and them tears WOW natural haha #tracey #eastenders."
