Viewers watched on as the sisters met a grisly end in the soap’s dramatic New Year’s Day episode.
The pair drowned in the hotel pool, just hours after Ronnie (played by Samantha Womack) had her dream wedding to Jack.
And 45-year-old Scott was praised for his emotional performance when he learned that his wife of only a few hours and her sister had been found lifeless.
Speaking to OK! magazine about the heartbreaking scenes, Scott admitted he found it very “draining” as he had to go to that "dark place".

Scott Maslen admits the scenes in the wake of Ronnie and Roxy's deaths were "draining"
He said: “It’s very draining. Even though it’s fiction you still have to take yourself to that dark place in order to do the scenes justice.”
Scott added: “I certainly drank a lot more beer.”
Some fans were angry by the decision to kill off the Mitchell sisters – who had been on Albert square for almost 10 years – but Scott defended the storyline.
He said: “That’s the nature of soaps. It’s always changing to give people the shock element and to keep people on their toes. I know people think that their characters shouldn’t do certain things, but it’s just the world we work in.”
Before the death of his beloved wife, Ronnie and Jack were planning to move out of Albert Square to Ongar, Essex with their children.
