Fans have speculated that the character (played by Adam Woodyatt) could be about to be told he has cancer.
During last night's instalment on BBC One, Ian was seen falling asleep in the Queen Vic with Aunt Babe (Annette Badland) putting it down to him being drunk.
However, he was actually sober and later blamed it on his old age during a conversation with Mick Carter (Danny Dyer).
But, those at home believe that drowsiness and his need to go to the toilet "every five minutes" – as mentioned by his stepson Steven (Aaron Sidwell) – could be signs of something more serious.

Ian and his wife Jane (Laurie Brett) have had a very tough few months after she was left paralysed on being attacked with a baseball bat by their son Bobby (Eliot Carrington).
