Tonight’s half-hour instalment ended with Mick Carter (played by Danny Dyer), Shirley (Linda Henry) and Aunt Babe (Annette Badand) get banged up after someone tipped off the police.
Villainous Aunt Babe was seen playing the innocent as she claimed that she was selling the beer outside the hours stipulated in the pub’s licence in a bid to make ends meet and Mick had told her to work harder.
As the famous EastEnders drums signalled the end of the episode, the trio looked miserable as they each sat in their cells following a lengthy interrogation by the police officers.
However, many fans of the BBC soap were less than convinced by the plot line and a number of people took to social media to hit out at EastEnders for the scenes.
One person posted: “#eastenders since when do police go around locking up landlords for a licencing law crime? And getting tried in the wrong court? [sic]”
While another added: “Remanded for a breach of licencing conditions? Phahaha I'd love to see a custody Sgt authorise that one. How incorrect #Eastenders. [sic]”

A third added: “#EastEnders who the hell is the script writer on EastEnders Donald Duck? No way in hell would they be remanded overnight, pathetic writing!”
There was also much anger towards Aunt Babe for putting Mick in the frame in one of her final acts before soap star Annette, 66, makes her exit from EastEnders.
Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) also looked less than innocent, judging by the expression on her face, when she heard what had happened to the Carters.

However, fans will have to wait until Thursday to find out the fate of Mick, Linda and Babe.
The latest episode comes in stark contrast to last night’s more brutal scenes as a fight broke out between Shakil Kazemi (Shaheen Jafargholi) and another pupil at his school amid a teen revenge porn storyline.
Many were left shocked by the hard-hitting scenes as Shakil was left bloodied and bruised and ended up getting put into isolation over the incident.
EastEnders continues on BBC One on Thursday at 7.30pm.
