EA news: Mass Effect Andromeda, Battlefield 1 DLC and Star Wars Battlefront 2
A new bumper Mass Effect Andromeda update has been released on PS4 and Xbox One, with BioWare trying to address those negative review scores.
Releasing on Thursday, April 6, update 1.05 makes countless bug fixes and improvements, most noticeably addressing lip-sync and facial acting during conversations.
The patch notes confirm the inclusion of single-player and multiplayer balance changes, as well as an option to skip autopilot sequences in the galaxy map.
"Since launch, our team has been poring over your comments and feedback, looking to discover what you like about the game, as well as areas we can evolve or improve," the post reads.
"Over the next two months we’ll be rolling out additional patches which will go even deeper and look to improve several areas of the game."
This includes more options in the character creator, improvements to the appearance of characters, more romance options for Scott Ryder and changes to conversation options for Hainly Abrams.
Needless to say, fans can also expect additional performance and stability fixes, as well as free cosmetic items in single-player.
One former BioWare and current Naughty Dog animator has had his say on the matter, suggesting that maybe the team underestimated the process.
Video game animator Jonathan Cooper – whose credits include Mass Effect 2 and Uncharted 4 – said: "Andromeda seems to have lowered the quality of it's base algorithm, resulting in the 'My face is tired' meme featuring nothing but lip-sync.
Battlefield 1 developer DICE has big plans for the WWI shooter, promising monthly updates, new features and the next big DLC expansion.
The next Battlefield 1 DLC pack is called In The Name Of The Tsar, which takes place on the Eastern Front.
"Battlefield 1 In The Name Of The Tsar will bring you to the Eastern Front, where you will fight alongside the Russian army and witness the brutality of combat and the bitter cold of the Russian winters," reads a blog post.

"Prepare yourself for all new tactics employed by the Russian army. Though the frost is cold, the steel is colder."
Each new expansion contains maps, weapons, vehicles and game modes. Premium members can play first.
But you don't need a Premium pass to benefit from the other new features releasing as part of the spring update.
This includes Platoons, which lets players join forces with friends.
"Finally, you’ll be able to organize and join forces with your friends, execute swift victories, and achieve goals as one unit," DICE continues. "Stay tuned for more info on Platoons and the Spring Update release."
