A man who claimed to be from Sudan runs for the border after taking his family's passports
The man who claimed to be from Sudan had crossed a treacherous gully which separates the US and Canada with his eight other family members, four of whom were children.
Shortly after they had pulled up to the US-Canada border in Champlain, New York, an officer seized their passports and questioned the man.
But absolutely terrified their dreams to live in Canada could be shattered, the four adults and four young children fled and ran to Royal Canadian Mounted Police who could see them on the other side of the border.
Photographers captured the incident as RCMP officers helped them up, lifting the younger children and asking an injured woman if she needed medical care.

Although the RCMP declined on Friday to confirm the nationalities of the people, a Reuters photo showed that at least one of their passports was Sudanese.
In one final attempt to be with his family who were still hurling enormous wheeled suitcases, plastic shopping bags and a black backpack to finish their difficult journey, the man appeared to grab their passports from the U.S. officer before making a run for the border, but was stopped by Canadian police.
