On the eve of his big day, protesters took to the streets to show their opposition to the soon-to-be new Leader of the Free World and gathered outside the Republican's Columbus Circle Trump Hotel in Manhattan.
Singer Cher was just one of Hollywood’s big names at the event. She told the crowd: “Nothing happened to stop Vietnam until we got into the streets.
“The power of the people is bigger than those a**s who are there in Washington.
“The only thing that will save us is you. The only thing that can save us is you.”

Robert De Niro attended the anti-Trump protest in New York
Up to 25,000 people were estimated to have been at the rally that featured appearances from Michael Moore, Julianne Moore, Shailene Woodley, Mark Ruffalo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.
De Niro and Baldwin also fired shots at Trump on the night.
“I’m very happy to be here tonight with all of you and all of my overrated friends,” De Niro quipped at the beginning of his speech.
He referenced the Tweet that Trump sent Meryl Streep saying she was “overrated” after she spoke out against him at this year’s Golden Globes.

Longtime New Yorker Baldwin done an impression of Trump as he took to the stage.
“Donald Trump and Steve Bannon and Mike Pence and all these people that are part of the Trump Administration, they think that you are gonna lay down. The one thing they don’t realise is that New Yorkers never lay down.” Baldwin said.
Images from the city showed furious protestors holding anti-Trump banners as police deployed tear gas in clashes with the activists.
Trump’s inauguration will be broadcast at 5pm today.
