Diego Forlan – Arsenal's Premeir League title chances are laughable

Arsenal lost 3-1 to Premier League leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge today with goals from Marcos Alonso, Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas condemning them to defeat.

The Gunners now find themselves 12 points adrift of the Blues with Arsene Wenger coming under increasing pressure after failing to win the Premier League title for 13 years.

And Forlan, who scored 10 goals in 63 appearances for Manchester United, has described the situation at the Emirates as 'sad'.

Arsene Wenger has failed to bring a league title to Arsenal for 13 years now

"Opinions are divided on [Arsene Wenger]," Forlan said in his column for The National.

"It's quite sad because he’s a brilliant football manager but something is not working there. They can’t carry on without being serious title contenders until Wenger decides to quit.

"When Arsenal are talked about as title contenders, people actually laugh because they can’t see it happening.

"No league title since 2004 is not good for a club of their stature … when I played in England there were times when they were the best team.

"Even some of the other Manchester United players admitted that Arsenal had a better side.

"Arsenal were one of the few teams against which United had to revert to more defensive tactics because we knew they had players who could seriously punish us."
