The 45-year-old pulled out of appearing at the last minute because of Piers’ inflammatory remarks about the women’s marches following Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration. Piers, 51, had said: “I’m planning a men’s march to protest at the creeping global emasculation of my gender by rabid feminists.”
T2 Trainspotting star Ewan, below right, told his followers on Twitter yesterday: “Was going on Good Morning Britain, didn’t realise Piers Morgan was host. Won’t go on with him after his comments about Women’s March.”

Piers said: “He was meant to be the main guest on today’s show but he has decided not to turn up. A real man would have come on and debated it with me, not run away like a coward.”

What followed was a spate of tweets from Piers condemning the Moulin Rouge star. “He’s an actor, not the Dalai bloody Lama,” he wrote in one. “Just an actor, not a brain surgeon,” he said in another, later adding: “Vainspotting.”
Piers, also reposted several comments. “What Ewan McGregor has done is absolutely pathetic,” stated one.
“Throwing a strop at Piers having a different view about women who protested because of their views. Oh the irony,” wrote another.
Ewan joins a long list of famous names – including Madonna, Beyoncé and Rihanna – to have been tongue-lashed by Piers.

However, it has not yet been confirmed which charity will receive what is likely to be a hefty sum.
The Malefi cent star’s ongoing philanthropy has gained her key positions in international charities, including the title of goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and co-chair of the Educational Partnership for Children in Conflict.
Sir Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper have teamed up for an 18-date tour
Sir Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper have become the new odd couple as they team up for an 18-date tour, which kicks off this summer.
Why the two decided to join forces is not yet known, but Sir Rod, 72, is getting set to dig out some of his classics, such as Maggie May and Sailing, while Cyndi, 63, famous for her 1983 hit Girls Just Want To Have Fun and ballad True Colours, is also expected to perform tracks from her latest album Detour, released with little fanfare last year.
Currently it’s a US-only tour but if it proves a success it could very well end up on this side of the pond.
Naomi Harris has received her first Oscar nomination
She has just bagged her first Oscar nomination and Naomie Harris can’t believe it’s for her performance in low-budget surprise hit Moonlight.
Best known for playing Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond franchise, Naomie revealed that she shot the gritty drama during the busy promotion tour for 007 blockbuster Spectre in October 2015. “I came from the glamour of Bond and then to this – the lowest budget movie I have ever been part of!” admits the 40-year-old Londoner, up for Best Supporting Actress at next month’s glittering ceremony in Los Angeles.
However, despite the movie’s shoestring budget and the fact that Naomie shot all her scenes in just three days, her portrayal of drug addict Paula has brought the biggest critical success of her career so far.
The actress is also up for a Bafta for the role and took home the London Critics’ Circle award for Best Supporting Actress over the weekend.
Looks like 2017 will be a good one for Miss Harris!
