Andrew Marr suffered a stroke in 2013 and is set to appear in a new documentary
But as he gets set to appear in new BBC documentary Andrew Marr: My Brain And Me, the 57-year-old says he felt he owed it to other sufferers to document his own experiences publicly.
“One of the things I said early on was that I didn’t want to become a poster boy for stroke recovery,” he tells Radio Times.

“I don’t really like talking about these things or certainly being filmed. I didn’t enjoy watching the film.
“But when you are in public life and something bad but very common happens to you – 1.4 million people are surviving strokes at the moment – then you have a kind of obligation to share your experience, particularly if it’s positive and is going to encourage other people.”
It’s generally perceived that Andrew’s stroke was brought on by him overdoing things.

This is something his political columnist wife Jackie Ashley says in the programme, although Andrew now thinks having the condition has actually improved their relationship.
“It has probably made it better and warmer actually,” he adds.
“I was very lucky with Jackie because she had grown up with a father [Labour politician and peer Jack Ashley, who died in 2012] who was deaf. You might think she’s had the worst luck having looked after her father and then this happens to me.”
The full interview with Andrew Marr can be seen in the latest issue of Radio Times, which is out now.

Talk about striking while the iron’s hot. Just hours after her triumphant stage performance at the Super Bowl Lady Gaga has announced a seventh world tour.
The singer took to Twitter in the early hours of Monday morning to share an image with her followers confirming she’s hitting the road to coincide with her recent album Joanne.
The 30-year-old is seen, inset left, wearing a pair of sunglasses with the word Joanne in the reflection while the text simply states “Lady Gaga world tour” – although the Born This Way hit-maker is yet to announce any dates or further news.
Gaga’s controversy-free half-time show on Sunday at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, was particularly well received and earned praise from a host of stars, including Katy Perry and Gaga’s long-time collaborator, the veteran crooner Tony Bennett.

While many celebrities document every minuscule detail on social media, not so Sarah Jessica Parker who says she’s still coming to terms with the relatively new concept.
“I’m not easy with it [social media] and I’m unclear of my own boundaries,” says the Sex And The City star, 51.
“I’m unclear of how much I want to engage and how to have it not be a personal experience and how to have conversations that I think are productive with people when they’re feeling anxious or angry or they’re wanting to say unfriendly things.”
And the actress, who has three children with husband Matthew Broderick, is growing increasingly concerned with her eldest, 14-year-old James, and his recent foray into that world, fearing he might say something inappropriate online, just to fit in.
“I don’t know what to do. He might end up saying something that might not be kind and would hurt someone else.”

Jennifer Lopez is making sweet music with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
However, the singer and actress hasn’t rekindled her romance with the Latin crooner – she’s insisting the collaboration for the Spanish-influenced album is strictly business.
“We’re making a beautiful album together,” says the 47-year-old.
“Marc is executive producing the whole album and it has been a great time for us.”

Jennifer, who ended her five-year relationship with dancer Casper Smart, 29, last August, raised eyebrows when she shared an affectionate on-stage kiss at the Latin Grammys with Marc, 48.
Soon after the kiss Marc, who is the father of Jennifer’s eight-year-old twins Max and Emme – separated from actress wife Shannon De Lima.
Jennifer and Marc married in 2004, split in 2011 and finalised their divorce in 2014.

While Beyoncé announcing she was pregnant with twins took many by surprise, it seems none more so than her own father Mathew Knowles who admitted finding out only after getting a handful of random texts.
“I was shocked,” says the 65-year-old, who previously managed his daughter’s former band Destiny’s Child and currently works as a visiting professor at Texas Southern University.
“I got a first text and I was like ‘Why is this person saying congratulations?’ Then I get a second from one of my students at Texas Southern, and I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ He was like, ‘Go to the web.’ I didn’t know.”
