Real Madrid are again determined to sign De Gea from Manchester United.
The 26-year-old came within minutes of sealing a return to Spain two years ago, only for the player to end up staying after paperwork issues saw the deal fall through.
However, Real Madrid still remain keen on a deal and have reportedly failed with a £60million offer.
Should he sign, then De Gea would replace Keylor Navas as the club's No1 – despite the Costa Rica international helping them become the first team to retain the Champions League in its modern format last season.

Manchester United ace David De Gea could replace Keylor Navas at Real Madrid
Navas was included in Real's offer to buy De Gea in 2015 and would have moved to Old Trafford if the transfer had made it over the line.
But Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim the Red Devils will not sign Navas if the goalkeeper is replaced by De Gea over at the Bernabeu this time around.
The report fails to specify who, but does say that Jose Mourinho would instead opt to pursue a goalkeeper more to his taste.
Though De Gea looks likely to remain a United player, if he leaves then it would certainly present them a big problem.
United have previously been linked with moves for both Manchester City's Joe Hart and AC Milan's Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Manchester United are not interested in signing Keylor Navas from Real Madrid
Yet Hart is expected to wrap up a move to West Ham imminently, while Donnarumma has now ended uncertainty over his future by signing a new Milan deal.
That would either force Mourinho to look elsewhere or give more game time to Sergio Romero and youngster Joel Pereira.
Diario Gol add that Paris Saint-Germain would instead be the favourites to sign Navas this summer.
Manager Unai Emery wants to replace Kevin Trapp and, after six years in Spain, 30-year-old Navas could be tempted by a new challenge elsewhere.
