A teenager who was shot in the back in the street has died.

The 19-year-old man was found seriously injured in Arnside Close in the Hillfields area of Coventry at about 14:30 BST on Friday.

He was taken to hospital where he later died, West Midlands Police said.

The force has launched a murder investigation and said it wanted to hear from anyone who saw a black Volkswagen Golf R acting suspiciously in the area.

Officers said the car had light coloured or silver wing mirrors and five spoke alloy wheels.

“I am appealing for anyone with information on today’s shooting to get in touch with us as soon as possible,” Ch Insp Scott Griffiths said.

“We are committed to finding those responsible and would urge anyone with dashcam or phone footage of what happened before or after the incident to speak to us.”
