The couple named their son Charlie Cairoli after the famous Blackpool clown

Danny Hickes and Jenni Taylor juggled jobs as team leaders at Tower Circus in Blackpool, Lancashire, before eventually becoming a couple.

Now, nine years later, the pair are parents and named their beautiful baby boy Charlie Cairoli – after one of Britain's most famous clowns.

Speaking about their romance, Mr Hickes, 29, said: “Jenni and I met when we worked in the Circus together in 2006 and we were both team leaders.

“We thought about what name we would pick for ages and then it just clicked and we realised he really suited Charlie Cairoli when we saw him.“

Charlie Cairoli began performing in Blackpool, in 1939 after arriving from Italy as part of a travelling circus.

The superstar clown provided a special performance for Adolf Hitler and took his clown routine on American television but chose to stay in the seaside region of Blackpool until his death in 1980 at age 70.

Mr Hickes and Miss Taylor, 30, hope their relationship and their own special little Cairoli will be as enduring at their idol's.

Speaking about their time together, Mr Hickes, now a manager at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, said: “We were working together for two years before I asked Jenni out.

“We were friends at first and we spent a lot of time together.

“We just hit it off and a lot of our work colleagues were telling us we needed to get together.

“But we didn't until I finally plucked up the courage to ask Jenni out. It took me a long time.

“Luckily, she said yes.”
