Coronation Street's Mikey North relives son Archie's traumatic birth: 'There was no respite'
The actor revealed he is "really enjoying" fatherhood, noting that it was the "next step" for them as a couple.
But, while Rachael had a relatively easy pregnancy, they were shocked by how difficult Archie's birth was and their plan's for a straightforward delivery went out of the window.
"The labour lasted around 20 hours. But it was just constant," Mikey told OK! magazine. "There was no respite.
"I thought there would be some chance to rest. It was just full on for nearly a day. I felt so proud of Rachael."

The new mother had to have a episiotomy to help with the delivery but the cut went through a vein and she subsequently lost 1.5litres of blood.
Speaking about watching on as Rachael endured a difficult birth, Mikey commented: "When you see your wife going thought all of that, I just felt so proud.
"It's just amazing seeing a human coming out of another human, if that makes sense! I cried, obviously. But it was overwhelming."
He went on to add that once he knew his son was safe, he began to worry about his wife's condition, explaining: "The amount of blood was unbelievable."

Meanwhile, Rachael was overcome with emotion when she was finally given the chance to hold her son following the long and painful birth.
"It felt crazy. It felt surreal," she told the publication. "I just couldn't believe that he had grown inside me. Even now it seems mind boggling. I did shed a tear."
Mikey will have had plenty of hands-on experience practising for fatherhood as he plays father-of-one Gary Windass on the ITV soap.
His character has a son named Jake with his ex-girlfriend Izzy Armstrong (played by Cherrylee Houston), with Tina McInyre (Michelle Keegan) acting as a surrogate.
