During a scene in the Rovers Return, Fiz Brown (played by Jennie McAlpine) was handed a pint by a man who looked very similar to Kirk.
Viewers were certain that the actress had taken the drink from him and said, "Thanks Kirk," and were confused by the character's replacement.
However, it was revealed that Fiz actually said, "Thanks Dirk," as she acknowledged soap extra Adam Blease.
Addressing fans fears that Kirk had been replaced on the ITV soap, Jennie took to social media to clarify the mix-up.
