Speaking to media including Express.co.uk, the 40-year-old soap star said that although the couple were united in the grief over the death of their baby son, Steve’s (played by Simon Gregson) secret love child with Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) could divide the couple.
“Let’s not forget that he’s still the father of Leanne’s baby, so let’s see what happens. I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes,” Kym teased.
Reflecting on the disintegration of Steve and Michelle’s relationship in the ITV series, the Merseyside soap star said: “I love Simon Gregson, not in that way, but I love Simon Gregson.
“I would be devastated if we were to break up never to be put back together but we all know how soaps are and you’ve got to ride that journey out, haven’t you?”
She added: “How forgiving do you think she would be? Not very. You’ll just have to wait and see.”
The soap couple were struck by tragedy recently after they lost their baby Ruairi after he was born prematurely.

Viewers have praised Coronation Street for the harrowing yet brave late miscarriage storyline as well as lauding Kym for her own performance having lost her own son Archie at a similar stage of pregnancy to Michelle.
Kym described the response from the audience as “unbelievable” and had had hundreds of tweets from people getting in touch and speaking out about the taboo topic of late miscarriage.
“It’s all been people sharing their stories and asking for help and congratulating the show on highlighting an issue that was close to their hearts for many reasons,” she explained.

The former pop star continued: “That was the best thing for me. That was the reason behind my wanting to do it and it’s shown that we were right and I’m really, really proud of the show.
“Not only did we do it but we really did it. We told a story and it could have been so easy to go there and go, ‘oh, we can’t do that because it will upset people’, but actually we didn’t do that. We literally went the whole hog and I’m really proud of that.”
Tonight’s episode of the ITV soap saw Steve and Michelle cremating their son as they broke down during a funeral service.
Coronation Streets continues on ITV on Friday at 7.30pm.
