Rosie returned to Coronation Street last night after a five year absence. Fans were thrilled to discover that she finally found success as a model and has been living in the US.

But soon enough she found herself embroiled in scandal after police arrived at 13 Coronation Street with a search warrant, having been tipped off that there could be drugs in the house.

Helen, who has given birth to her first child during her absence from the show, said: “Rosie has come back a lot more likeable now which won’t be boring to watch.”

But viewers were divided, with many slamming the actress as “wooden". To mark Rosie’s return, here is a look back at her time on the cobbles.

Arrival on Coronation Street (1990)

Rosie arrived on the Street in suitably dramatic fashion.

Her mother Sally Webster went into labour on Christmas day alone at home and was forced to call a taxi to take her to hospital.

She ended up giving birth on the back seat of the cab in Rosamund Street, which inspired her to name the baby Rosie.

The character was originally played by Emma Collinge, who was replaced by Helen Flanagan in January 2000.

Rosie's first love was goth Craig Harris

Goth phase and first love (2005)

After discovering that Sally was having an affair with her boss Ian Davenport, Rosie rebelled and tried to blackmail her mother.

She then went through a goth phase and started going out with Craig Harris.

Sally disapproved of the young lovers, especially once she found out that they were having sex.

The family eventually came around to the relationship, but it promptly ended when Craig asked Rosie to elope to Berlin with him.

Rosie had a tumultuous affair with John Stape

Affair with John Stape (2007)

At 16 Rosie began an affair with her A-level English teacher John Stape.

His girlfriend Fiz Brown mistakenly thought that John was sleeping with Sally, leading to a brawl on the cobbles.

Seeing the damage that she had caused, Rosie split up with John.

But in an explosive Christmas Day special, Rosie accidentally revealed the affair to Fiz in front of her whole family. Her angry dad Kevin gave John a bloody nose.

Rosie was kidnapped by John after their affair was exposed

Kidnapping (2008)

After their affair was exposed, John was fired from his teaching job and became a taxi driver.

He was desperately unhappy with his new life and kidnapped Rosie, holding her hostage at his late grandmother’s house for five weeks.

Rosie escaped when Fiz accidentally found her and John was sent to jail.

He later gave her £150,000 in compensation, but she was conned out of the money by another ex-boyfriend and unsuccessfully tried to blackmail him for more.

Rosie tried to make it as a glamour model

Glamour modelling (2010)

Rosie shocked her parents by taking up glamour modelling.

Helen said at the time that Rosie was inspired by “reading the celebrity mags every week” and said that she “wanted to be like Katie Price”.

She planned to have breast enlargement surgery, but changed her mind after Sally was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Rosie enlisted Jason Grimshaw for an underwear shoot

Relationship with Jason Grimshaw (2012)

To kick-start her modelling career, Rosie enlisted hunky builder Jason Grimshaw to pose for an underwear shoot with her.

Sparks flew and the pair shared a romantic moment in Jason’s van.

The pair became Wetherfield’s favourite couple until Rosie was offered a part in a reality television series in London.

Although Jason offered to come with her, Rosie revealed that she needed to be single in order to go on the show, and left him behind for a new life.
