Senator Lindsey Graham has called for an investigation if reports about Donald Trump officials having contact with Russian intelligence are true.
Mr Graham fumed as he claimed that Russia has interfered with the democratic processes all over the world, and hacked the American election process.
The reports came just one day after the President’s national security adviser Michael Flynn resigned amid questions about conversations he had with the Russian ambassador to the US during the White House transition.
Mr Graham, a member of the Republican Party, insisted the reports needed to be looked into further.
Lindsey Graham warned that there needed to be an investigation into Trump officials and Russia links
He told ABC: “If there were contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence officials outside the norm, that’s not only big league bad, that’s a game changer.
“If there are contacts between the Trump officials and Russian intelligence operatives during the campaign we need a joint select committee in congress to get to the bottom of it and also look at Trump’s business guys to Russia, if it is true.
“If it is true, it is very very disturbing to me and Russia needs to pay a price when it comes to interfering in our democracy and other democracies.”
In a series of tweets the President responded by dismissing the reports that his administration had made contact with the Russian's.
He said: “The fake news media is going crazy with their conspiracy theories and blind hatred.
