She continued: “Over the past few months, many of us have felt gutted and demoralised. This time last year, it felt like we were on the brink of achieving gender equality: people were talking openly about campus safety for women, the wage-gap, and sexual harassment. “Yes, we experienced a setback, but the only thing you can do when you’ve been set back is to step forward and continue to fight. And that fight includes standing by an institution that’s synonymous with the health and safety of millions of women across the nation: Planned Parenthood.”

Over in the United Kingdom, tens of thousands of protesters have also taken part in the Women’s March including Lily Allen and Charlotte Church – who used the event to dismiss God with a bizarre placard.
In the Cardiff demonstration, the 30-year-old singer held up a placard which read: “I didn't come from your rib, you came from my vagina”, appearing to dismiss the Bible's story of how Eve was created from Adam's rib bone.
British singer Lily, 31, sang to crowds who gathered outside London’s Grosvenor Square while at another unofficial protest, fists flew as chaos broke out in the capital’s Oxford Circus.
The protests come after Trump’s inauguration yesterday which saw the billionaire become the 45th President of the United States.
