Premier League leaders Chelsea, who have also had bids knocked back for Craig Gordon, have turned their attentions to the Hoops’ leading goalscorer.
But if they are to clinch a dramatic move for the 20-year-old French striker it is going to take a mammoth bid.
Dembele has been a revelation at Celtic since his £500,000 summer move from Fulham, scoring 20 goals – including three in the Champions League and five against Old Firm rivals Rangers. And Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has been adamant the player would not be sold in January.
Rodgers also reiterated his stance on Chelsea’s interest in Gordon ahead of tomorrow night’s game with Aberdeen.

The Blues want the keeper, 34, as understudy to Thibaut Courtois, with Asmir Begovic set to leave Stamford Bridge.
Rodgers said: “For me it’s always been clear.
“Craig will be here, he will be in goal on Wednesday night and we want to get him signed up on a new deal, simple as that.”

Sunderland were also understood to be weighing up a £10m-plus move for Kieran Tierney, but Rodgers gave short shrift to the notion.
“The kid loves it here,” he said. “I think it’s great. When there’s speculation around your players it means something is going okay.
“It’s been Moussa, Craig, Kieran, probably Dedryck Boyata will be next. But for me there’s no drama.”
