Craig Gordon has been the subject of interest from Chelsea this week
Premier League giants Chelsea, who want the keeper, 34, to be understudy to Thibaut Courtois, have had a £3million bid rejected.
Gordon’s contract expires this summer, although the Hoops have the option to trigger a further year and Rodgers wants to extend that with a bumper new deal.
Even though Celtic have made it clear Gordon is not for sale, Chelsea are lining up an improved second offer.
Rodgers, however, is not concerned about losing his No 1 after the pair met to discuss the situation.
Asked if he was certain Gordon would still be a Celtic player on February 1, the manager replied: “Yes, absolutely. Because the strength is with the club.
“There are 18 months left here and where do I get another goalkeeper at this stage, when I am looking to build something?

Brendan Rodgers insists Craig Gordon won't be joining Chelsea this month
“So I’m not really of the mindset to throw all of that out and be left having to look for another Champions League goalkeeper.
“I have spoken to him at length. He’s a good guy. I was only aware of it on Thursday so I sent him a message and told him to come in and have a chat. He’s cool and calm. It’s flattering for him.
“Chelsea is a fantastic club but it’s also about what you want and for him now it has to be about playing for as long as he can.
“But there is no interest to sell. It has been absolutely nowhere near the valuation and no player will ever come out of Celtic cheap, if they are to go.
“That’s not something I would be looking to do at this stage, with four days to go.”
Rodgers has told the club’s hierarchy he wants Gordon tied up on a new deal.
He said: “I made it clear that he is someone we want to keep and that, of course, will be looked at.
“Craig is enjoying it here but as a club we have to look after him as well.”
Rodgers is still hopeful of signing 19-year-old Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru, after having a £1m bid rejected by Belgian side Eupen.
He said: “He is a fantastic player with big attributes, but we will see how it develops over the next few days.”
