The incident took place in Levenshulme after a silver Peugeot 306 was involved in a collision with a man on Stockport Road.

Police are now appealing for witnesses after the 45-year-old man died after he was taken to hospital by emergency services.

In the footage, which shows the moments after the collision, the car can be seen jumping a set of red lights and mounting the pavements it speeds away.

Vehicles stopped as the car sped through the lights with one door open after it had mowed down the father-of-three.

The vehicle also mounts the kerb and jumps another red light as the vehicle flees the scene.

Shahid Tarafdar was struck by the vehicle and his devastated family have paid tribute to him.

His family said: “Shahid was a loving husband and a father to three young children. He was a devoted family man who was loved by his family and respected by the whole community.

“He spent most of his life in Southampton before moving to Manchester five years ago with his family.”

Shahid’s eldest brother Shabuddin added: “We have lost our brother at a young age due to a hit and run incident.

“We as a family are in total shock and devastation at the loss of a young brother, husband and father and are appealing to anyone who has knowledge of the collision to contact the police”.

Police are also appealing to track down the front seat passenger in the footage who was seen exiting the Peugeot in the moments following the collision.

Senior Investigating Officer, Sergeant Lee Westhead said: “A major police investigation has commenced to identify the driver of the Peugeot at the time of the collision.

“If you recognise any of the people in the images, if you know who the driver was at the time of the collision or if you have any information about the movements of the Peugeot on the day of the collision then I would ask that you contact my team or the independent charity Crimestoppers immediately.

“This collision has led to the death of a 45-year-old man, his family are devastated and it falls to me to provide them with the answers they deserve.

“My team and I will not rest until we find the driver, we will be relentless in our search and we will use every possible means available to us to identify them.
