Last week’s opener saw Sister Mary Cynthia (Bryony Hannah) take some time out from her midwifery duties to get treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.
Meanwhile, Nurse Trixie (Helen George) has been absent for the entire sixth season, having extended her trip abroad.
Those watching at home were upset that yet another cast member was leaving.

However, a trailer for episode three revealed Trixie would be back next week, much to the relief of many Call the Midwife fans.
One viewer said: “PATSY IS GONE BUT TRIXIE IS COMING BACK I HAVE SUCH MIXED EMOTIONS #callthemidwife.”
