Britons could be flying in space from the UK in just three years
Ministers want to build travel “ports” across the country in a bid to usurp the US as a major hub for space travel.
President Donald Trump has announced plans to send Americans to the moon for the first time since 1972 but Britain is expected to invest in its own space infrastructure.

Jo Johnson, Boris Johnson’s brother, admitted he wanted to send Britons into space by 2020.
The science minister said: “We will cement the UK’s position as a world leader in this emerging market.
“Space flight offers the UK the opportunity to build on our strengths in science, research and innovation.”

The Government has said it holds "ambitions for the UK to hold a greater share of the commercial spaceflight market” and estimates the market could be worth £25billion over the next 20 years.
The Spaceflight Bill is expected to be put before Parliament later this week.
Newquay in Cornwall, Llanbeddr airport in Snowdonia and Prestwick airport, near Glasgow are among some of the locations being considered.
Mr Johnson added: “It provides opportunities to expand into new markets, creating highly-skilled jobs and boosting local economies across the country. That is why it is one of the key pillars of our Industrial Strategy.
