Vox Fortura singer leaves group a year after Britain's Got Talent semi-finals
Rodney quit Vox Fortura due to a “change in direction” as the latest batch of contestants go head-to-head in this year’s Britain’s Got Talent live shows.
“It is with great regret that I have found it necessary to leave Vox Fortura,” he told Express.co.uk. “This is due to a change in direction for the group that I can no longer see myself a part of.
“I want to thank the guys for what has been an amazing journey and wish them all well for the future.”
Vox Fortura, originally named Vox Fortis, hit the headlines last year when one of its original five members – Cameron Jones – left halfway through Britain’s Got Talent 2016.
Rodney and the other three remaining members – Elias Hendricks, Thomas Goodridge and Julius Williams – sang David Bowie’s Heroes in the semi-final.
But the singers did not make it through to the final despite impressing the judges with Alesha Dixon describing them as “sexy chocolate men”.
Elias said: “On behalf of the group, we'd like to say Yes, Rodney is no longer a member of Vox Fortura and we wish him the best in all of his future endeavours.”
Now it's time to focus once more on my solo career

On leaving Vox Fortura, Rodney praised their “exciting new sound” and said he would continue to follow the vocal group’s progress without him.
“From our first meeting, it was crystal clear that the blend which Tommy, Julius, Rodney and Elias made was unique and that it was very rare to find a mix of timbres coming together to form this exciting new sound,” he said.
“I will continue to watch the progress of the group from a distance but now it's time to focus once more on my solo career.”

Rodney is currently playing the roles of the Workman and Rajah Bimmy in the musical On The Town at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
He added: “I am pleased to announce some exciting performances coming up for myself as a solo artist with concerts with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Halle Orchestra at the BBC Proms, a couple of World premier operatic roles in UK and Europe and of course not forgetting starring in On The Town.”
“I will also be releasing my debut CD entitled GLORIOUS QUEST (accompanied by pianist Christopher Gould) which is a celebration of hits from the Golden Age of Broadway Musicals.”
