Rodgers reckons it was a sad end for Mark Warburton, who he insists was on the right track with the Light Blues and will go on and prove to be a success back down south.
But the Celtic boss believes Rangers have to ensure the chemistry is right at the very top of a club run by chairman Dave King.
With former Ibrox defender Kevin Muscat, the boss at Australian club Melbourne Victory, the latest in a long line to be linked with the Gers post, Rodgers said: “The key thing you look at as a manager before anything is the alignment at the top of the club. If you don’t have that, it’s very tough.
“If a serious manager is looking at that, it is something that has to be right.
“If they think it’s workable it can be a good job.”
Rodgers admitted he joined the Hoops because of the impression made on him by majority shareholder Dermot Desmond, and is a firm believer in managers signing for a chairman or owner rather than the club itself.
Brendan Rodgers has had his say on what Rangers need to do in hiring a new boss
Mark Warburton left his post as Rangers boss last week
“I came to Celtic because of the stability of the board, the intellect of the board,” said Rodgers.
“I needed to ensure that the strategy which I wanted to work was aligned with that. There is no big confusion. There are major shareholders at Celtic who invest in the club. But sensibly, there is consistency in how the club is run.
“There is no fragmented approach. It’s very simple. It’s Peter Lawwell on a day-to-day basis. Me in football. That’s it. I speak with Dermot – that’s the leadership.
“There are no messages on email. It’s very simple and simplicity is the best way.”
Rodgers’ achievements with Celtic make the task for the next Rangers boss even harder, but the Northern Irishman reckons no manager can afford to think like that.

Express Sport takes a look at some of the greatest players who have played in both the Premier League and the Scottish Premier League (now Scottish Premiership)
He cited the example of Swansea who became the first Welsh side in the Premier League – 10 years after almost falling out of senior football.
Rodgers added: “I am sure whoever goes into Rangers isn’t really worried about us.
“They will try and get their own house in order and get the team right.
“The best example ever is Swansea. This is a club that were within one game of going out of the Football League. They beat Hull on the last day of the season, stayed in the league and then they changed the ownership.
“They cut their cloth accordingly, they were simple in terms of what they wanted to do and in 10 years they were in the Premier League. They got their reward for their strategic approach, putting in place managers who understood that philosophy and just rolled it out year after year.
“From that against Hull to a decade later, they find themselves in a game worth £100million.”
