The incident took place outside the Old Queen’s Head pub on Essex Road
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and possession of points and blades after knives were found on the scene.
It comes days after Khalid Masood killed four people and injured 50 others when he drove his car along Westminster Bridge before stabbing PC Keith Palmer to death outside the Houses of Parliament.
The suspects are believed to have mowed down pedestrians before jumping out of the vehicle and attempting to escape on foot.
The incident took place just before 11pm outside the Old Queen’s Head pub on Essex Road – an area with many bars and restaurants.
Police shut down the road in response to the incident
The scene remains on lockdown as Metropolitan Police and a helicopter rushed to the scene in an attempt to bring the situation under control.
Images from the scene in Essex Road appear to show pedestrians strewn along the pavement.
Two men and a women were later taken to hospital for treatment, but their injuries are believed not life threatening.
James Monks, who arrived on the scene shortly after the incident, claimed a female police officer said the victims were “seriously injured but conscious”.

The occupants decamped from the car and fled the scene on foot.
Metropolitan Police say they are not treating the incident as terror related.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at approximately 22:55hrs on Saturday, 25 March to reports of a car in collision with a number of people in Essex Road, N1.
“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene.
“Three people – two males and one female – were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries. At this stage their injuries are not being treated as life threatening.
“The occupants decamped from the car and fled the scene on foot.

Emergency services deal with what appears to be an injured victim
“Two males have since been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and possession of points and blades. They remain in custody.
“Two knives were recovered at the scene; one inside the car and one found near to the car.
“Enquiries into the circumstances continue.
“This is not being treated as terrorist related.
“Officers from Islington investigate. The National Police Air Service also assisted with the investigation.
“Road closures remain in place.”
