The US sent a navy strike group towards the Western Pacific in a show of force, with North Korea retorting with warnings of a nuclear attack in retaliation to any show of aggression.
And now Mr Trump has waded even further into the row, which many claims put the rival nations at the brink of war.

The US President tweeted earlier today: "I have great confidence that China will properly deal with North Korea. If they are unable to do so, the US, with its allies, will! USA."
He later added: “Things will work out fine between the USA. and Russia. At the right time everyone will come to their senses & there will be lasting peace!”
Mr Trump has already vowed to “take on” North Korea during a press conference with Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

The President spoke about his blossoming relationship with Chinese leader Xi Jinping but insisted he would not wait for China as he vows to deal with North Korea.
He said: "President Xi wants to do the right thing. We had a very good bonding, I think we had a very good chemistry together, I think he wants to help us with North Korea.
"We talked trade, we talked a lot of things, and I said the way you’re going to make a good trade deal is to help us with North Korea.
“Otherwise we’re just going to go it alone, that’ll be all right too, but going it alone means going with lots of other nations."
