A propane tank explodes near a Boston police station
Officers said they were hunting a suspect who deliberately threw a propane tank beneath a police cruiser.
An officer managed to move the vehicle before the propane tank exploded.
There were no reports of any casualties as a result of the blast and no arrests have been made.
The Boston Police Department bomb squad has been called in to investigate the attack.
Boston Police Commissioner William Evans described the incident as a “deliberate act.”
There was no immediate link to the inauguration events in Washington DC but US security services are on high alert across the country.
