Ugly scenes broke out at University of Washington

The victim was shot in the stomach and was removed from the crowd following ugly clashes between supporters and protesters of a right-wing speaker.

According to Seattle police, the person was dragged out of the crowd and rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Hundreds of people gathered at the campus to oppose a speech by right-wing commentator Milo Yiannopoulous.

Fights then broke out between supporters of Yiannopoulous and protesters, according to local reports.

An anti-Trump protest marched in the city following the inauguration of President Trump, however it is not clear whether protesters attended the nasty clashes.

Seattle police are investigating the incident

According to Seattle media, one man claimed he was beaten for wearing a hat in support of Trump.

He said: I did nothing to agitate them. The most I did was stand up there, wearing this hat. All I wanted to do was hear what they were chanting about and read their signs."

His father said: "The beat him like a bunch of pirhanas, they just attacked my son.

"I tried to get in there and tried to defend him and they started slugging me too."
