Trump bomb scareREUTERS

A bomb squad has been called in

Police were called in after the package was discovered in H Street, between 14th and 15th, just minutes away from the White House.

D.C. police tweeted about the closure at about 1:30 p.m.

However, no further information was immediately available.

The bomb scare comes just hours before president elect Donald Trump is sworn in as America's new president.

Security is tight around Washington D.C. as the first wave of people arrive in the city for the inauguration tomorrow.
