An avalanche has hit Hotel Rigopiano in Italy

20 people are reported missing from Hotel Rigopiano in Pescara.

Rescuers are trying to reach the hotel as local media reports the mobile phone network is down.

It comes hours after several strong earthquakes and aftershocks struck central Italy.

A 5.4 magnitude quake hit at 9.27am GMT about 67 miles north-east of Rome, where two of the three metro lines were evacuated.

Another slightly stronger quake measuring 5.7 hit around an hour later. Several strong aftershocks measuring as high as 4.1 have also been felt.
