Richard Madeley broke his arm after falling on ice earlier this week
The 60-year-old – whose wife Judy Finnigan previously suffered a stress fracture after she was running behind her husband in the airport – took to Twitter to confirm that he had been rushed to hospital after the horrific fall.
He posted: "They say there's a 1st time for everything. So today I broke my arm falling on ice! Went down hard + smashed it! Op tomoz (sic)"
Richard later added: "Ta all for good wishes. Worse things happen. Just incredibly inconvenient."
The presenter then shared: "Lucky it was the left one and weirdly it's still pretty functional. But as Lennon said: 'Life's what happens when you're making other plans.'"

Richard took to Twitter to reveal he'd be having an operation tomorrow
However, despite being in pain Richard still managed to take a selfie which showed his right arm in a cast and sling. He captioned the picture: "My personal 'snap' of the day. Titanium plates await!"
Yesterday it seems he was still getting to grips with only having the use of one arm and tweeted: "3days now as one-armed bandit after shattering left elbow. Hardest things;laces+watch strap.But BOY,does a broken arm hurt! UlnaUlnaUlna!!!"
Richard's 208,000 followers immediately took to the social media site to send him their well wishes afetr the fall, with one person posting: "Poor thing. Think of it as a chance to read loads around the clock. Perfect excuse. Feel better."
Richard thanked his followers for their well wishes
A second shared: "OW…ow ow..Good luck with the op, hope it's all straightforward."
A third social networker simply said: "Feel better soon, Richard x"
Richard's tweets come after Judy spoke out about her injury on Loose Women.

She revealed back in April 2015: "[I suffered a] stress fracture – thanks to Richard who insisted we arrive by train.
"I had to trudge all the way through the station, to the terminal…all the way around. Suddenly I felt this sharp pain and by the time we got to our holiday destination – where it was raining – it had swollen up to the size of a balloon."
She added: "My doctor said it was a classic. It often happens to people trudging around at airports carrying bags."
