Player Unknown's Battlegrounds could add a solo campaign
Player Unknown's Battlegrounds developer Bluehole is considering adding a single-player campaign as part of a future update.
Battlegrounds creator Brendan Greene told Game Informer that he would like a story campaign to focus on the history of the island.
"Lore is important for creating it, but we don't have any serious lore there… if we were going to do a single-player campaign then maybe the history of the island would come into it," he said.
"Originally I thought, because we have this Russian island and there's evidence of a military occupation there, it'd be fun to have a Watch Dogs kind of game based on the island.
"Where it's a bustling island with military occupation and you and five or four friends can play a single kind of multiplayer campaign set in the '70s. I thought that would be a cool era to set something kind of like Watch Dogs.
"Well, not Watch Dogs, but where you set out to capture each town on the island and take over the island from the military occupation. That was my concept of it…. no plans for it yet, [but] that's my big dream."
Hopefully the story campaign will be released in time for the PS4 and Xbox One release of Battlegrounds.

One of two new maps takes place on an island on the Adriatic Sea.
The diverse map features thick forests in the north, Mediterranean coasts on the south side and snow-capped mountains in the middle.
It measures in at 8x8km and features a wide variety of different architecture depending on where players drop.
There's also a smaller 4x4km desert city map, featuring a canyon with a river, hillside slums and small villages that have been buried by sand.
