Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has revealed he snubbed a move to England in the summer.

Umtiti signed for the Catalan giants from Lyon back in June.

He had been linked with moves to Arsenal and Chelsea but the defender has revealed the prospect of playing for Barcelona was too good to turn down.

"It was always a dream for me to play here [at Barca],” Umtiti told French outlet Canal+.

“I must be the happiest man in the world. There was another club other than Barca, there were English clubs too.

“I could have earned a lot more money, but I wasn't interested. For me, it was Barcelona and not another team."

Barcelona reportedly have a deal in place to sign Palmeiras defender Yerry Mina.

The Sun claim the Catalan giants sent their director of football to agree personal terms over a move.

Mina has caught the eye with a series of impressive performances for the Brazilian side this season.

Barceona’s agreement with Palmeiras means they can sign the defender at any point over the next three seasons.

He would cost them £7.8million to sign new with the price increasing over the next two years to £13.8m.

Ivan Rakitic now looks set to stay at Barcelona

Ivan Rakitic appears to have buried the hatchet with Barcelona boss Luis Enrique.

The Croatia international has flitted in and out of the Catalan side so far this season.

However, Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Rakitic is now firmly part of their plans for the future.

Barcelona were furious at his praise of Pep Guardiola amid talk he could move to Manchester City.

But Rakitic’s public lauding of Enrique, and an impressive display in their 4-0 win over Eibar last night, means he now looks set to stay.
