Ernesto Valverde wants to make Barcelona even greater
Valverde will sign his two-year contract on Thursday after being announced as Luis Enrique's successor at the Nou Camp.
The former Athletic Bilbao head coach played for Barcelona for two seasons between 1988 and 1990 and is determined to keep entertaining supporters.
"It's a privilege to come here. I feel very lucky that the club had me in mind and offered me the job," he told the club's official website.
"I am very excited about heading into this new stage of my career. It's an enormous challenge and I have the intention of making Barcelona even greater than it already is."

"In the last several seasons, they've been able to enjoy great players and coaches.
"My idea is to keep it that way, and to have them enjoy those things even more and to have them be proud of the team."
Valverde spent four years at Bilbao, guiding them to the Spanish Super Cup in 2015 and to European qualification in each of his seasons in charge.
