The explosion has sadly killed an employee and injured four others
The blast happened at an ammunition plant where chemicals are mixed in Independence, Missouri.
The wounded employees were treated on site and investigation is underway to established what caused the blast, authorities said.

Orbital ATK, a private contractor that manages the plant, said at a news conference all the nearly 1,800 employees were sent home after Tuesday’s explosion.
A statement on the plant's Facebook today said: “At approximately 1pm today, there was an explosion at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri.
Employees were told to go home after the blast
“One employee was killed and four employees were injured.
“The four injured employees were evaluated on scene and refused further treatment.
“The explosion was in a primer mixing cell. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Ammunition, similar to that produced by the plant
“The scene has been secured and the ATF has rendered the area safe so that we can begin determining what happened.”
Orbital announced on Monday that it has received a $92 million order from the Army for ammunition, adding that they “have made significant upgrades at the facility in recent years that have enhanced product quality, performance, efficiency and operational improvements for safety and environmental stewardship”.
