Per Mertesacker has returned from a six-month injury lay-off
Per Mertesacker was made Arsenal captain at the start of the season, replacing Mikel Arteta who joined Manchester City as a coach.
The former skipper was renowned for being injury prone and seemed to pass the curse on to the former Germany international along with the armband.
Mertesacker has been sidelined for around six months since assuming the captaincy and is yet to make a single appearance this season.

"It was a knee problem but he has recovered from that, so there's no reason why he should be injured again."
Mertesacker returned to full training for the Gunners last month and is not yet back in contention for Sunday's game against Burnley (2.15pm).
The German has made 207 appearances for Arsenal in five years since joining from German side Werder Bremen.
