Arsene Wenger regrets lack of chances against Chelsea

Arsenal lost 3-1 to Chelsea on Saturday to all but end their title hopes as they fell 12 points behind the Premier League leaders.

But Wenger believes the Gunners were unlucky to go down at Stamford Bridge as goalscorer Marco Alonso appeared to foul defender Hector Bellerin.

The Arsenal boss also regretted his side's lack of clear-cut chances after having the best of the possession.

“I believe we were unlucky because the first goal was scandalous,” Wenger said.

“That changed the game because we started well, but we put Chelsea in a position where they are good at – defending well and counter attacking.

“It was a very even game on goal chances and the regret I have is that we didn’t make enough of our chances.”

Arsenal go up against relegation battlers Hull on Saturday (12.30pm) looking to make up for back-to-back league defeats.
