Gabriel has already had a spell in Spain, spending two years at Villarreal before joining Arsenal in January 2015.
In his three seasons at Arsenal, the 26-year-old has made 63 appearances for the club.
But the Brazilian centre-back has been far from convincing in his time at the Emirates.
And according to reports in Spain, he could be offered an escape route back to Spain.
According to Spanish outlet Cadena Ser, Gabriel is wanted by his former Villarreal boss Marcelino, who is now coach at Valencia.
Arsenal defender Gabriel hurt his knee making a tackle on Enner Valencia
Gabriel wore a brace to support his injured knee
The report says Gabriel is one of Valenica's top targets this summer along with Napoli's Raul Albiol to partner Ezequiel Garay in central defence.
However any possible deal for Gabriel is complicated by the defender's knee injury.
Gabriel suffered a medial knee ligament injury in the final game of the Premier League season against Everton after attempting a tackle on Enner Valencia.
It meant he was forced to miss the FA Cup final and ruled out for six to eight weeks by Arsene Wenger.
