The right-back has fallen out of favour under Arsene Wenger.

And the 25-year-old came close to leaving the Emirates for Crystal Palace on a permanent basis last month.

However, a move broke down over personal terms, and Jenkinson has cited other factors as playing a part too.

Jenkinson could still leave his boyhood club in the summer, but the defender claims the decision over his future at Arsenal is up to him.

“Maybe I won’t get that much football now [until the end of the season],” Jenkinson told The Telegraph.

“But I’ve still got a 3-and-a-half-year contract, I’m at Arsenal, played for Arsenal for a number of years.

Hector Bellerin has kept Carl Jenkinson out of the first XI at Arsenal

“They are not pushing me out of the door but I also know I need to play football.”

Jenkinson has only played one Premier League game this term, having spent much of last year sidelined through injury.

He enjoyed two seasons of regular football while on loan at West Ham, and a move is needed with Hector Bellerin first choice and tied down in north London.
