Apple has announced record sales for its iPhone 7
Apple has just posted all-time record quarterly revenues helped by strong sales of its latest iPhone 7 device.
In its first full quarter, since Apple unveiled the iPhone 7, the US tech giant reported net sales of $78.4bn (£62.3bn), up 3% on the same period a year ago.
International sales accounted for 64 per cent of the quarter’s revenue with Apple gaining support in new countries.
Speaking about the record figures Apple CEO, Tim Cook, said: “We’re thrilled to report that our holiday quarter results generated Apple’s highest quarterly revenue ever, and broke multiple records along the way.
"We sold more iPhones than ever before and set all-time revenue records for iPhone, Services, Mac and Apple Watch.
“Revenue from Services grew strongly over last year, led by record customer activity on the App Store, and we are very excited about the products in our pipeline.”

Apple says it sold an incredible 78.3 million iPhones in the last three months of 2017, a rise of four million from the year before.
According to Cook, although the iPhone was still the most popular device, the larger Plus model has seen huge growth as consumers opt for bigger screens.
The iPhone 7 Plus also features a dual camera which allows users to zoom and take DLSR-style images.
The record figures come as Apple have just celebrated the iPhone's 10th anniversary.

Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs, held up the US tech giant's first smartphone at the Macworld convention on January 10th 2007 and over one billion iPhones have now been sold.
Since the original device went on sale Apple has continued to innovate its smartphone adding better cameras, faster processors, fingerprint scanners and waterproof design to its iPhone.
In fact, the latest iPhone 7 and 7 Plus feature an A10 Fusion chip with processing performance 120 times faster and the graphics performance 240 times faster than the original iPhone.
Along with strong iPhone sales the Apple Watch has also performed well with the company boasting record sales of its wearable.
However, Apple is yet to disclose exactly how many watches it's actually sold since launch.
During last night's investors call, Apple also revealed that Mac sales were also up thanks to the newly released MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.
The iPad was the only product not to see strong sales although the firm hasn't updated its tablet for almost a year.
