
The new series, titled Anne, will launch on the streaming service on May 12 this year.
Based on the book by L. M. Montgomery, the series will follow Anne, a young orphan, who is sent to live with an elderly spinster and her ageing brother.
As the season progresses, the 13-year-old girl (played by Amybeth McNulty) will transform their lives and the town of Green Gables with her imagination and intelligence.
The siblings, Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert will be played by Geraldine James (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) and R.H. Thomson (Avonlea).

Showrunner, Moira Walley-Beckett (Breaking Bad) was quick to praise the lead, saying: "She is a wonderful and sensitive actress who embodies all of Anne's qualities.
"Amybeth is Anne for a new generation," she added.
The cute trailer shows a new and fiery red-head addition to the Netflix team, which already includes the likes of Red (Orange is the New Black) and Kimmy Schmidt.

The clip also shows the famous scene from the series where Anne hits her classmate with a book after being called "carrots".
It was previously reported by Entertainment Weekly that the series will delve into previously untouched topics such as feminism, bullying, prejudice and identity.
