Android Nougat 7.1.2 is rolling out to the Google Pixel, while Samsung owners are still in the dark
Google has confirmed that its next-generation operating system, Android 7.1.2 Nougat, will be rolling out to members of the Android Beta Program today.
But as Android 7.1.2 Nougat rolls-out to those signed-up for the beta, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge owners are still scrambling for the original Android 7.0 Nougat update.
Google Pixel and Nexus 5X owners can download the latest software upgrade now.
The latest Android Nougat update focuses on small refinements and improvements – rather than a complete overhaul.
According to an official blog post from Google, the new update includes a number of bug fixes and optimisations, along with a small number of enhancements for carriers and users.
The latest beta is available today to those signed-up for the Android Beta Program.

Android 7.1.2 is currently only available on the 5inch Google Pixel, Pixel XL, as well as the Pixel C tablet, Nexus Player, and Nexus 5X.
The US search company says it is also preparing an update for the Nexus 6P, which it expects to roll-out "soon".
Those who have an eligible device that's already enrolled in the Android Beta Program, you're all set – your Google device will get the public beta update in the next few days and no further action is needed on your part.
If your Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus Player or Nexus 5X is not yet enrolled, Google makes the sign-up process available at android.com/beta.
Writing on its official blog, Google says: "We're expecting to launch the final release of the Android 7.1.2 in just a couple of months.

We’re working with Samsung and hope to have an approved Nougat OS file to roll out to our Galaxy S7 customers shortly
According to the post, this latest Android update will be the first release to exclude the Google Nexus 6, which launched back in 2014.
Unless Google changes its plans, the Nexus 6 will not be updated again – following the Android 7.1.1 update it received early this month.
The operating system update was pushed-out to devices purchased directly from Samsung or on SIM-only plans earlier this month.

However, anyone with a Galaxy S7 on contract from a UK mobile operator look likely to get Android Nougat in the coming weeks.
This is due to the networks having to test the software before it's pushed out to customers.
Testing is hugely important for operators as it gives them the chance to stop any bugs before the upgrade lands on devices.
In a statement to Express.co.uk, an EE spokesperson said: "Like the majority of UK networks, we’re working with Samsung and hope to have an approved nougat O/S file to roll out to our Galaxy S7 customers shortly.”
