Manchester United were widely expected to raid Real Madrid for Morata earlier this summer after failing to lure Antoine Griezmann away from Atletico Madrid.

Both United and Real are currently in America on their pre-season tours, and will come up against each other on Santa Clara on July 23.
Morata could then have an early chance to show Mourinho he was wrong to go for Lukaku instead.
And now, Herrera has admitted the Premier League giants were “close" to sealing a deal for his fellow Spain international.
“Of course I wanted to have Morata as a team-mate," Herrera said after United's win over LA Galaxy.
