Google has launched its Amazon Echo rival, Google Home, in the UK
Google Home is coming to the UK – some four months after it first debuted in the United States.
The compact, voice-controlled smart home device can answer your general knowledge queries, lets you search for directions, translate phrases, and more, with just your voice.
Google Home can also play music and podcasts via the in-built speaker.
The smart home speaker is also able to control other connected products in your home, including light bulbs and thermostats.
Google Home can also interact other with devices, including TVs and speakers, by interacting with Google Chromecast.
Google says it has updated the Google Home with a number of Easter eggs specific to UK users ready for the launch.
The company has not revealed any of these British in-jokes, but encourages Home owners to try-out as many phrases and jokes as possible.
Saying "OK Google" will wake-up the device, with LEDs letting you know its on
The speaker uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to understand context and answer follow-up questions to your initial voice commands.
Google Home starts to listen to your request whenever is hears the wake phrase “OK Google”.
According to Google, the far-field microphones and sophisticated natural language processing ensure Google Home hears you reliably.
The top touch surface of the device also gives you total control, with the microphone mute button allowing you to put Google Home's microphones on standby.

The Mountain View-based company also announced its Wi-Fi router, dubbed Google Wifi, in the UK.
The smart router uses technology called mesh Wifi, which Google says uses multiple routers to evenly spread internet signal throughout the home.
