Hwang Kyo-ahn has told the US to act immediately
Hwang Kyo-ahn claimed the US cannot delay if it wants to protect itself and Western allies in the face of Kim Jong-un’s growing aggression.
The US and South Korea claim the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) system will protect against North Korea’s burgeoning nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities.
Right now is not the time to talk to try to resolve North Korea's nuclear issues.
Hwang said: "(North Korea) has been expanding its nuclear capabilities and developing the technology to create nuclear weapons. They are also miniaturising nuclear weapons.
"Right now is not the time to talk to try to resolve North Korea's nuclear issues."
However China has condemned the deployment of THAAD, with Beijing officials claiming the system encroaches on its own sphere of influence.

This has led to calls from some South Korean opposition leaders to delay or cancel its deployment – calls which have rubbished by the South Korean leader.
Despite harbouring “some concerns”, Hwang said: "The relationship between South Korea and China was not made in a day. We have engaged in diverse cooperation since the beginning of our diplomatic ties.”
South Korea’s finance and trade ministers claim China has taken an indirect, retaliatory position against THAAD but has not given an answer to justify its position.

The 48-year-old was the only Westerner in the group of people allowed to tour the country with government minders. His images show the countries beaches and mountains, as well as photos of security areas and ones that officials asked him to delete.

Pyongyang conducted at least two nuclear tests and 20 missile blasts in just 2016 alone.
The two nations have been at war for more than 60 years due to the unresolved conflict between 1930-1950 which ended in a truce rather than a peace treaty.

South Korea is in the midst of a political crisis after president Park Geun-hye was impeached by parliament following allegations of an influence-peddling scandal.
She has been stripped of her powers and awaits a court trial to determine her fate.
